Description This micrograph reveals a meningeal infection due to Bacillus anthracis bacteria using an H&E stain.
Anthrax infections can occur in three forms: cutaneous (skin), inhalation, and gastrointestinal. Humans can become infected with anthrax by handling products from infected animals or by inhaling anthrax spores from contaminated animal products. Photo taken by Dr. Marshal Fox in 1976 and provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
