Free Picture: Plastic Ebola Virus Isolator Being Loaded Into a Plane

|
Description This 1976 stock photography image shows CDC staff member Dr. Stan Foster (Rt), standing outside of a plane in Zaire, assisting in the boarding (or disembarkation) of Peace Corps volunteer, Del Conn, a suspected Ebola patient. Mr. Conn, shown here lying inside a “rigged” plastic isolator, became ill with Ebola-like symptoms while working on the Yambuku survey effort. Worried that Conn was infected with the deadly virus, medical evacuation of the patient from Yambuku to South Africa was ordered. Evacuation of the patient took some time, for it was feared that such exposure of the newly discovered Ebola virus could facilitate its spread locally, as well as internationally. This image was provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
