Stock photography of Dr. Margaretha Isaacson, a South African virologist, shown adjusting plastic isolators used to treat Ebola patients in a Kinshasa, Zaire hospital during the country’s 1976 outbreak. The Ebola outbreak started in the town of Yambuku, and from there spread to surrounding areas. A Kinshasa area hospital was sealed off during the outbreak, helping to bring the situation under control. The total number of cases in Zaire, now known as the Democratic Republic of Congo, was 318 and had a mortality rate of 88%. This image was provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
