The CDC uses the Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSorbent Assay, or ELISA test, which uses an immunoreactive antigen, and an immunoabsorbent antigen in order to detect IgM antibodies to SNV, and to diagnose acute infections with other hantaviruses.
