Picture of a Bed Isolator, produced by Vickers Medical, Ltd., was on display in 1977 at the CDC. Isolation units like this were often used during deadly viral outbreaks, and can contain ill patients, thereby, reducing the chances of patient-to-patient, or patient-to-health care provider cross contamination. These are aircraft-transportable units. Predecessor isolator units to this were used in the 1976 Zaire Ebola outbreak to assist in the containment of the virus.
