Stock photoraphy of an Osborne 1, a laptop computer first used at the CDC in 1981 and was considered the first true portable computer.

The Osborne 1 featured an optional battery pack, 5” screen (diagonal measurement) that couldn’t display more than 52 characters per line of text, and was considered airline carry-on luggage, that fit under the passenger seat of any commercial airliner.
