This early 1980’s model of a portable computer was the Global Health Odyssey’s Historical Object of the Month for August, 2004. Used at CDC in 1982, this 64K RAM model, which weighed 24.5 pounds, was the first true portable computer. This new technology allowed EIS officers to more accurately gather and transport data in the field.
