Description Photo of people at an on-site Clinical Pathological Conference that was held during the 1975 South African Marburg investigation. After numerous courtyard discussions, and locally conducted laboratory studies, as well as at the CDC, James H.S. Gear, M.D., a noted virologist, was credited for identifying Marburg Disease as the possible diagnosis. This was later confirmed by the CDC. This image was created in 1975 and provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/Dr. J. Lyle Conrad.
