
This late 1960’s photograph shows children being weighed, using bathroom scales, outside a Nigerian school house where health officials can assess the needs of the local villagers. During the Nigerian-Biafran war, this field stations was established for nutrition assessment and feeding operations for the local villagers around the war zone. The CDC was asked in 1967 to assist the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in disease control and death prevention at these numerous relief camps.
