Picture of Harry Kowa as he “bled” a patient in order to obtain much needed blood plasma in the Segbwema, Sierra Leone clinic. In 1977, the CDC traveled to Sierra Leone to participate in a Lassa Fever Research Project. The study included general activities in Sierra Leone, at both the Kenema Laboratory, and in Segbwema. This image was created in 1977 and provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
